Who/What/Why: Isaaac Mizrahi's Spring 2010 collection, which reminded us why he's one of the biggest and brightest.Location: Bryant Park Tents, Tent.
Celebs spotted: All the big editors, including La Wintour, Grace Coddington and Andre Leon Talley.... Joy Bryant, Kathy Griffin, Robert Verdi.
The Collection: Girly and feminine--tulle skirts, ruffles, lace, sequin cocktail dresses, ribbon details --balanced by moe structured menswear pieces-- tuxedo silhouettes, blazers, oxford heels, and seemingly Astaire-inspired cardboard bowler hats.
Hair:Eugene Souleiman/Wella [A square, geometric look was achieved by pulling the bangs back away from the face and spraying them at the roots to provide lift and height. Sides were pulled back tightly, giving the, a shiny finish. The bangs and sides were then joined at the nape of the neck and wrapped into a bun.]
Makeup: Tom Pecheux/MAC [bright red lips were the focal point--red lipstick with red pigment powder on top for an ultra matte finish--and the rest of the face was left bare. retro, classic starlet makeup.]
The Takeaway: I wasn't cool enough to be invited (yet), but I watched the show livestreamed online via Isaac's site, so technically...I "attended". And glad I did, because it was AMAZING. The runway, if you can call it that, was set up to look like a Hollywood movie lot, complete with stairs, golf carts, and fake rain (which was awesome). The black dress with pink tulle underlay at right was a KILLER...and I kinda wish that I owned it. The only piece this entire season that literally made me gasp when I saw it. EASILY my favorite show this season. Bravo, Mr. Mizrahi.pc. NYMAG
