Yesterday, MAC Cosmetics named Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper as the latest faces of Viva Glam, a line of products within the MAC brand that raises money to support the MAC AIDS Fund.
The "From Our Lips" campaign is set to launch Feb '10. The Viva Glam shades will be available starting in March, and includes a lipstick representative of each star: Viva Glam Gaga, and Viva Glam Cyndi. 100% of proceeds go to the MAC AIDS foundation.
Though we haven't gotten swatches yet, those worried about a garish, Gaga-esque shade needn't: Viva Glam's premise has been to create wearable shades flattering to every MAC customer, in keeping with the theme of universality within the campaign.
Past Viva Glam faces include Debbie Harry, Dita Von Teese, Sir Elton John, Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliot, Fergie, and RuPaul, who was the first face to rep the campaign when it launched in 1994. Since its founding, the MAC AIDS Fund has invested more than $150 million to organizations in more than 67 countries.
This selection was a no-brainer, considering Gaga's status within the gay community, along with her recent strong support against Prop8. I can't think of a better face for Viva Glam, and I'm actually really excited to see what they do with it.
