Glamour Women of the Year issue: First Lady Michele Obama makes history, Amy Poehler steps out from Fey's shadow, & Rihanna's got an album to promote.

It's time again for Glamour's annual Women of the Year roundup, and the mag shot 5 collector's covers for the issue.

First up: Rihanna.

I feel like all that anybody's going to take from this interview is Rihanna's comments on the "incident". I'm really tired of it, and feel that it's soooo after-the-fact, so let's just focus on how she looks.

I WILL say...that while I understand the weight of the situation, and respect her decision to break her silence...I find it it extremely suspect that she's "decided" to go public while she has an album to promote. Not surprising, but in bad taste and I imagine that she's going to catch a ton of shit in the press...and the message is going to get lost in the process.

(um... one more thing: PLEASE get rid of the $2 dye job. I'm going to let the clothes pass, because I know you had nothing to do with styling yourself...but that hair is all you. YOU LOOK A MESS.)

Like I mentioned, Rihanna's cover is one of five. Lord knows that I'll be scouring all of New Jersey for this one:

Michelle Obama shooting the cover marks a first for the mag; She's the first First Lady to do so. Inside, Mrs. Obama talks to Katie Couric about mentoring, her role models and dealing with her critics.

The First Lady is no stranger to posing: in March 2009, she appeared on the cover of Vogue. I mean, sure it helps that she's young, and gorgeous...I don't recall seeing Barbara Bush on any fashion covers. I think it's refreshing to see ACTUAL role models on covers.

I'm also excited about Amy Poehler's cover. She looks amazing, and fresh off of the Tiny Fey wave last year, it's nice to see her getting more recognition. I find her just as hilarious and bright, if not more so at times.

The two other editions feature Maria Shriver and Serena Williams:

Which is your favorite cover?

FYI, if any other magazines would like to trade the vapid celeb covers for Michelle Obama or Amy Poehler, I WOULD BE OK WITH THAT.

I have to agree with you, when will magazines start putting real 'role' models on the covers. Call me a cynic but this whole Chrianna-gate incident is getting tiresome and is now being spun out for promotional gain...you have to give her PR team props.
