I purchased a shitload of studs from www.studsandspikes.com and intend of studding every black or leather piece in my closet.

that last pair will need an electric drill. get screw-in studs and drill bit a teeny bit smaller than the screw part of the studs. mark where you want your holes to be and slowly drill less than a 1/2" at each mark. A pair of pliers would help you get the studs in tight.
If you don't have a drill, I think an ice pick and a hammer may work as well to get your starting holes ready.
